The House System

The House system is very important at Windsor Park Middle School. It provides the framework for pastoral care of pupils, encourages participation in sporting and cultural extra-curricular activities and promotes leadership development.There is keen but good-natured rivalry between the four Houses to see who will win the coveted House Shield each year. Merit Points towards this prize accumulate from the various sporting, cultural competitions that are held throughout the year, in addition to personal academic achievements. In addition each form competes within their House for the House Star Trophies. Stars are awarded for positive contributions 'school life'.
Inter-house competitions include: Cross Country, Football, Hockey, Netball, Sponsored Quiz, Team Cuisine, House kitchen. Strong house loyalty and good-natured rivalry dominate the school atmosphere. The four houses are: Each House meets once a week for Assembly, each form alternate with their Head of House and present an assembly of their choice. Tutor Groups Each House has four forms, or tutor groups, which meet three times daily for registration and mentoring. Each form has about 30 pupils drawn from all four year groups, and pupils will normally belong to the same form throughout their school career. Every pupil has a specific responsibility within the form: there are form captains, Student Council, peer supporters, notice-board and register monitors and many other small but important positions.
